We sat down with Laura Hamilton on a rainy Glasgow morning, cups of tea in hand, in front of a cosy fire to discuss her new curated collection with I Love Wallpaper.
I Love Wallpaper: Laura, congratulations on your curated collection with I Love Wallpaper! What was the main inspiration behind the designs and colours you chose for this range?
Laura Hamilton: Thank you so much! I’ve absolutely loved working on this collection, it’s been such a passion project. The main inspiration comes from my travels and the beautiful homes I’ve seen whilst filming in lots of different countries. I wanted to bring a sense of a relaxed, effortless style into the wallpapers, something that felt luxurious but also liveable. I’ve always believed your home should be a reflection of how you want to feel, and colour plays such a big part in that. Warm neutrals, rich textures, and calming tones really shaped the collection.
I Love Wallpaper: How did specific properties or regions help you draw inspiration for choices in your collection?
Laura Hamilton: Many of the homes I’ve visited over the years have stuck with me. Spanish fincas with beautiful terracotta tones, coastal homes in the Greek islands with soft, weathered whites, and even sleek modern villas with those dramatic, darker palettes, they’ve all played a role in my design inspirations. I wanted my collection to offer something for everyone, whether you’re styling a city apartment, a period property, or a country cottage.
I Love Wallpaper: You’ve often spoken about your own house renovation projects. How did these personal experiences, including any challenges or triumphs, shape the practical aspects or aesthetic of your curated wallpapers?
Laura Hamilton: I’ve used loads of the wallpapers in my collection in my own homes, and I can tell you, I’ve learned a lot through trial and error! Renovating gives you a real understanding of what works practically, not just visually. I wanted wallpapers that are easy to hang, durable, and versatile enough to evolve with your style. And those renovation challenges, like uneven walls or awkward spaces, definitely influenced some of the textured designs. They’re not just beautiful, they’re clever too!
I Love Wallpaper: Beyond just aesthetics, what feeling or atmosphere do you hope people create in their homes using your collection?
Laura Hamilton: I want people to feel at home. Whether that’s calm and cocooned, inspired and creative, or simply content, the right wallpaper can totally transform your mood. For me, it’s about creating spaces that make you feel good every single day! So yes, the wallpapers look gorgeous, but they’re also designed to feel like a natural part of your everyday life.
I Love Wallpaper: If you had to pick one wallpaper from your collection that you feel most represents your personal style, which one would it be and why?
Laura Hamilton: It has to be the Haptic Metallic Wallpaper in chocolate brown, I’m obsessed with it at the moment! It’s rich, warm, and so on trend, not just in interiors, but also in fashion. That deep, earthy tone brings such a sense of sophistication and depth to a room. I’m planning on using it myself in a few property projects I am working on. It instantly makes a space feel cosy and elevated. It’s the perfect example of how a wallpaper can be both timeless and bang on trend.
